Dutille Piano Studio Policy

Student Arrival
Please arrive 5 minutes before scheduled lesson. Ring the door bell and come in. If another student is still playing, please sit in the foyer until they finish. Wash hands in bathroom (2nd door on right in foyer) and place boots/shoes on mat in foyer.
Tuition & Payment
Piano instruction is $35 per hour; $26.25 per 45 minutes, and $17.50 per half hour. Checks made payable to Dutille Piano Studio are due at the time of instruction each week.   Monthly payments, also accepted, are due the first lesson of each month. Non-payment will result in late fees (10% of unpaid amount) and/or cancellation of future lessons. Place checks in the payment box on the stand to the left as you enter the piano room.
Missed Lessons
Please call at least 24 hours in advance to cancel a lesson. Plan ahead with the studio if going on vacation.  Teacher will inform students/parents of studio closings and vacation times at least one month in advance whenever possible. Generally, when schools are closed [with the exception of summer break], the studio will also be closed.

If a lesson is missed without prior notification, there will be a "no show" fee equal to the lesson fee. Each student has one free "no show" before fees occur.  This fee is due with the regular lesson fee at the next lesson.
Studio Visitors
Parents are welcome to attend lessons as are siblings with consecutive lessons. People not involved in lessons are asked to be quiet and non-disruptive. Visitors under 6 years of age are not encouraged to attend.

Property damages resulting from "playing" with studio objects will result in item repair/replacement fees. Specific items not to be handled include, but are not limited to: round adjustable stools, rectangular piano bench, hanging instruments, metronomes, piano lamp, music stands, music cabinets and items on desks.  Students are welcome to check the lost and found drawer as needed.
Calling the Studio
During lessons the phone is answered by machine.  If calling to reschedule, cancel or notify of being late, please DO leave a message. If a student misses the lesson, messages are considered before a "no show" fee is charged. The studio does NOT make reminder calls or inquiry calls to locate students who have missed a lesson.
Young Musicians
Students age 6 and younger often benefit from parental involvement during lessons and practice. Parents are encouraged to be present for the first two or three lessons to understand how best to help the student practice. Some of the homework has reading that may be difficult for those just learning to read. Young piano students who have help with this reading generally learn more quickly, enjoy practicing, and experience less frustration.
